Organisers have announced that the 66th Annual Farm City BBQ is scheduled for Wednesday, November 23 at Cambier Park in central Naples.

National Farm-City Week occurs every year on the week before Thanksgiving. It is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of farmers and promote the cooperative network that keeps our country happy and healthy. This event has attracted more than 3,000 local business leaders as well as farm families to raise funds for local youth programs.

Farm City announces this year’s honorary chair will be Kamela Patton Ph.D., who is serving her final year as the superintendent of Collier County Public Schools. Ms. Patton worked tirelessly to improve education in the district, adding new programs and tools to existing programs. This has resulted a significant increase in student performance.

“The youth development programs supported by Farm City BBQ align with Collier school’s strategic plan of preparing the students to be college, career, and life ready,”Ms. Patton. “Every year, I look forward to participating in the Farm City BBQ to connect with our community leaders, families, and the students that are helping build a better future for all of Collier County.”

Residents of Southwest Florida are welcome to join the festivities and enjoy a variety entertainment. This will foster community involvement and interdependence. The event’s proceeds will be used to fund and support youth leadership development programs. They will also promote agriculture and highlight its importance to youth. Over $600,000. has been donated to our community in recent years to support our participating nonprofit organizations in providing hands on education for elementary through high school students. This year’s beneficiaries will be the 4H Association of Collier County, Youth Leadership Collier, Collier County Junior Deputies, Kiwanis Key Clubs, and The Immokalee Foundation. ¦
